The franchise includes video games, trading cards, an anime series, movies, and merchandise. Here’s a brief history of the Pokémon franchise and everything we know about it.

The first Pokémon game, Pokémon Red and Green, was released in Japan in 1996 for the Game Boy console. The game achieved an immediate triumph, leading to the release of another version, Pokémon Blue, in Japan in 1999. The games were later released in other parts of the world, and the franchise quickly grew in popularity.

The Pokémon anime series premiered in Japan in 1997, and it was later dubbed and released in other parts of the world. The series follows the adventures of Ash Ketchum, a young Pokémon trainer, and his friends as they travel around the Pokémon world, catching and training Pokémon and competing in battles.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game was released in Japan in 1996 and later in other parts of the world. The game involves collecting and trading cards featuring different Pokémon and battling other players.
